So whether you realize it or not we're now living in the world of relativism. We create our belief systems and everything is relative! Which is surely an option as a way of life...but it is smart?
Take for example creation and evolution. I realize these are subjects that are touchy, but doesn't it make sense to want to know whats really true or not? I am a creationist because there are many things about evolution that don't make any sense to me...for example the human heartbeat. It is a impossible for me to believe that something as complex as the human body could have just happened...no matter how much time it would have taken. Its like looking at a high rise and wondering how long it took to form, and it doesn't even have a heartbeat. Also, if we descended from apes why isn't there a species that's more a combination between the two species...I mean, if the apes survived... Cuz it doesn't make sense that wouldn't be at least one or two species between us and the apes...there are too many differences. Structurally, our DNA is too different.
And my list of questions goes on and on...
I mean, if there is a God...and He has a plan, wouldn't it make sense to find out what it is, instead of 'creating' an ideology that in the end may mean nothing. Also, the idea that any creator wouldn't care what we called him, or what we believed about him. I believe God, like us, wants to be known for who He is, not who we want Him to be.
The Bible teaches that God is the loving God, and that because He loves us He sacrificed His own Son, Jesus, to take our death sentence upon himself. The Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and that "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). That's the beauty of Christmas, that God would send His Son to earth to live among us and show us who God is, and what He wants of us. We have an opportunity to find out exactly who God is and what He wants from us. But, He isn't going to force Himself on us.
According to the Bible if we choose to ignore God, when the time comes He will ignore us. And no judgement on my part...that sounds serious! The only difference between me and Hitler, in God's eyes, is that I chose to know Him and accept His provision of Jesus, and Hitler didn't. People try to make faith more complicated...and more about degrees of goodness, but really, in comparison to God...none of us measures up. Relativism and rationalization is a trap!!!
So...are you interested in the truth? Or are you willing to face the consequences of ignoring Him? If you don't know Him...I pray that this Christmas you would read the New Testament. Jesus features prominently, and you can get a good picture of who he is, and who God is...and what He wants. You'll be so glad you did!!!
If you already know God...great! For followers of Jesus there is only one other holiday (Easter) that means as much as Christmas to us...so ENJOY!!!
Merry Christmas everybody! God really does love you all, and has a wonderful plan for your life. Check it out...
